2020 is the Year of Plenty

2020 is the Year of Plenty

Matthew 9:37

It is hard to believe that we have moved into the year 2020.  And for many if not all of us the road in 2019 I am sure had some ups and downs.  And for some reason when we move into a new year we tend to look back and focus more on the ‘downs’ instead of the ‘ups.’  We focus on the mistakes and the missed opportunities.  We focus on the struggles and the setbacks.  We focus on the hurt and the pain.  We focus on the failures and the depression.  We focus on the broken hearts and relationships.  And I have learned in my life that when we focus on the past, we put limits on our future.  Let me put it like this.  When we focus on the ‘downs’ in 2019 we put limits on the ‘ups’ available to us in 2020.  As a matter of fact, as we begin another new year, I am reminded of a passage of scripture in Matthew 9:37.  Jesus says, “The harvest is plentiful.”  In this text we know that Jesus is referring to the fact that there are plenty of people in our communities who need Jesus in their lives, and it is our responsibility to make it happen.  But I also wonder if perhaps Jesus was referring to more than just people in the use of the word ‘plentiful.’  What would it look like if we carried this loaded word with us into 2020?  As a matter of fact, I am declaring that “2020 is the Year of Plenty!”  2020 is the year of plenty growth.  2020 is the year of plenty faith.  2020 is the year of plenty courage.  2020 is the year of plenty confidence.  2020 is the year of plenty financial resources.  2020 is the year of plenty dreams.  2020 is the year of plenty humility.  2020 is the year of plenty love.  2020 is the year of plenty prayer.  2020 is the year of plenty success.  2020 is the year of plenty learning.  2020 is the year of plenty generosity.  2020 is the year of plenty patience.  2020 is the year of plenty joy.  2020 is the year of plenty provisions.  2020 is the year of plenty…. you just FILL IN THE BLANK.  The harvest in 2020 is plenty and it is time for you and I to go after it with unwavering determination.
