Discipleship at The Village

Step 1

We couldn't be more excited that you've chosen to take that step with us. Truly, we celebrate you. Your presence matters, your gifts matter, and your journey matters.

We believe discipleship begins with a simple, meaningful step-belonging. Becoming a member of our church isn't about adding your name to a list; it's about stepping into a life-giving community where you can grow, serve and follow Jesus alongside others.

Scripture reminds us in Acts 2:42 that the early believers "devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." They didn't walk their faith alone - they committed to one another. That same invitation is open to you.

Membership is your "yes" to that kind of life. It's choosing connection over isolation, purpose over passivity and growth over standing still. It's the first step in discovering how God is shaping your story within a bigger family.

Welcome home to your family at The Village UMC.

Step 2

You've taken a beautiful first step by becoming part of our church family! Now it's time to discover how uniquely God has shaped you for what comes next.

We invite you to print, take and bring the Spiritual Gifts Assessment and sign up for our upcoming class designed just for you. This isn't just a questionnaire or a class - it's an opportunity to uncover the ways God has already placed purpose, passion and calling inside of you.

As Scripture reminds us in 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them...Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good." That means you have a role to play here - something meaningful that only you can bring.

Through the assessment and class, you'll begin to:

  • Understand your unique spiritual gifts
  • Grow deeper in your relationship with Christ
  • Find where your gifts connect with real opportunities to serve

This is your next step into purpose and belonging.

Step 3

You've already said "yes" to becoming part of this church family and taken your spiritual gift assessment. Now we'd love to spend some time getting to know you and helping you feel truly at home.

Our New Member Orientation isn't just a class. It's a conversation, a connection point and a next step in your journey. It's a space created with you in mind.

During this time together, you'll have the chance to build meaningful relationships with others who are new, meet the leaders who help guide and care for our church and get a clear, welcoming picture of what it means to be a part of a United Methodist church and specifically The Village including what we believe, how we live out our faith and why it matters.

It's also your space to ask questions. The ones you've been wondering about, the ones you weren't sure who to ask, or even the ones you didn't know you had yet all matter and help us to grow. We're here for all of it.

You'll also discover the heartbeat of our church -- our ministries, our mission and the many ways you can get involved and find your place to serve and grow.

More than anything, this is about helping you move from attending to belonging.

Step 4

Now that you're part of the family, we want to invite you into the rhythm that helps faith truly come alive! Gathering together in worship and growing together in Bible study.

Think of it as creating space in your week to reconnect with God and with people who are walking this journey alongside you.

In Hebrews 10:24-25, we're encouraged to "consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together...but encouraging one another." There's something powerful about showing up consistently, expectantly and experiencing God together.

When you join us for Sunday worship and Bible study, you're stepping into:

  • A deeper relationship with God
  • Meaningful connections with others
  • A growing understanding of your faith and how it speaks into everyday life

Our gatherings are designed to be a place where everyone belongs. You'll find an atmosphere that is safe, welcoming and open to the entire family. Here, your individuality are honored, faith is nurtured and no one walks alone.

Expect passionate worship, interactive moments that draw you in and biblically grounded messages that connect with real life in meaningful ways.

More than a routine, this is where we become a family that learns, grows and praises God together.

Step 5

You're a part of the family now and every family thrives when everyone brings their heart, their gifts and their presence to the table.

Getting involved in ministry is where faith begins to move from something we believe into something we live. It's where relationships deepen, purpose becomes clearer and lives are changed.

As we're reminded in 1 Peter 4:10, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace." That means there's a place for you here -- right now, just as you are.

When you step into ministry, you'll discover

  • A deeper connection with God as you live out your faith
  • Authentic relationships with others who are serving alongside you
  • The joy of making a real difference in the lives of people

Everything we do is rooted in creating a safe, welcoming environment for the whole family. Whether you're jumping in for the first time or continuing a lifelong journey of faith, you'll find spaces that are encouraging, meaning and open to you.

And the impact? It's life changing. Not only for those we serve, but for us as well.

We truly have a place for everyone across all ages, all stages and every step of the Christian journey. You don't have to have it all figured out; you just have to be willing to take a step.

We can't wait to see how God works through you and in you as you find your place in the life of The Village.
